people always debate dieting vs working out and it's really simple. if you workout well but have an absolutely terrible diet it won't make a significant difference. if you diet but have a bad workout/don't workout at all you will still lose weight because you still burn simply by living (maintenance calories).
i have direct experience with the ketogenic diet + intermittent fasting. the first month that i did it i lost 20 pounds. after 1 year i've lost 50 pounds. it doesn't work for everyone but i implore you to try it.
find out your macros (macronutrients)
https://calculo.io/keto-calculator
download app to track those macros. myfitnesspal is my favourite app, it has the largest database of foods out there
start a fasting schedule. start out with 16/8 if you're weak (fasting for 16 hours and being able to eat for 8 hours), if you want to lose weight even faster move up to 20/4, or even 24 hour fasts.
when starting out i simply worked out in my room. after i lost the 40 pounds i started to run outside. currently i go to the gym.
i don't know anything about health and/or fitness, only the experience and diet that i personally did. there's tons of other stuff that i didn't include because i wanted to keep it simple so feel free to correct me or add-on anything

1. exercise 25-30 min each day - won't kill you to spend 30 min for yourself and it doesn't matter what you want to do, yoga or dead-lifts as long as you do it regularly
2. no junk food
You should be pretty set with these two simple rules.
