Edit: I literally did this about 20 minutes ago and got a 12 Month Xbox Live for free, but the Rep told me that it will take around 24 hours for the code to activate, if you get the same you can use this https://redeem.microsoft.com/ and if it tells you that it is not activated, then at least you know it is valid.
