If salary is your number #1 concern (big mistake btw, as you won't be happy + loaded with work) you should focus on the type of programming that you will be doing rather than programming language.
Sure languages GENERALLY might dictate the type of work that you will be doing, but take Python for instance - used for literally any type of job spanning virtually all of the salary scale.
If you're aiming for a high salary job, the employer will also expect you to be fluent in a number of languages, frameworks and technologies so don't narrow your choice NOW that you're starting.
I'd say find a niche that pays well and specialize in it and see what is used there - look at job postings online and see what they expect you to know.
