I will answer you based on my experience.
I coded many hours of many language, and, the rigth thing to chose the language is : "What do I want to create?" "Is it a big scalable web app?" "Is it a simple web page" "Is it a game?" etc...
If you want to travel the whole notions, please consider this:
- C will teach you the low-level, low-level is memory managment, pointer etc..., C is the best language to begin the programing since the syntaxe is really easy, and notion reamains understandable.
- Node.Js will teach you the network, basically how client and server communicate, the security etc.. I said Node.Js because Javascript is used by many many people, the community is very very big, you'll not be lost there. And Javascript is a descent language where a lot of web-app uses.
- F# or Ocaml will teach you the functionnal programming language, a very elegant way to do things.
With this in your pocket, you'll have nearly the whole dev concepts, and you'll be able to learn almost every languages very fast!
I hope I helped you.
