travel to places that speak it and take in as much as possible. I took 4 years of french and didn't learn much but being surrounded by people only speaking that language forces you to try your best to adapt. Thats how I learned french fast and you get a feel for how life is there. Only downside is that it can be very awkward at times and very expensive :ohgod:

 

 

edit: I used to watch tv shows that were only in french and that helped too. Of course you need to have a base knowledge of the language :)

Like the person said above me, travel to places where people speak that language. For French you can travel to France, but you can also travel to Montreal too. It will basically be impossible to learn the language if you're constantly surrounded by native English speakers

When you are learning new words in a different language do not associate them as a different language just think of them as a synonym to the word in your language

You should ask for teachers whose their main language is the one you want to learn, they'll teach you the basics and most useful things about it :)
