all addiction pretty much steem of psychological reasons
I used to have some weird habits including smoking weed , cutting my flesh you know harmful stuff , the more I studied about these behaviors the more I learned that you pick up the habit of harming yourself when you lack self confidence , or think you are unworthy , sometimes stressing up also makes you wanna find something to relax and give you that boost and that kick .
there are drinks which help you quit ( SIIROU ) , but all these things have no effect unless you decide you should stop because it's harmful and that you deserve to be in the best shape mentally and physically .
to sum it up , study about yourself and know yourself better , know your worth and include more good habits into your routine , gradually you will forget about that shit

It's not easy. They put hundreds of addictive chemicals in them besides tobacco and nicotine, so it doesn't make it easy. But if you have the will to quit, you can. But you have to really want to stop. Like one person stated, get into exercising more, you won't want a cigarette after a run or something and you're out of breath and sweating. Just have to replace bad habits with a better one.
