Python is a really good language for beginners either that or

Javascript. Python uses indentation instead of {} which beginners find easier.

Or you could go with HTML and learn that then start getting better with html and using css with it.

and later bring in javascript.

I used w3schools.com for learning my first language so i highly recommend that site.

He is also the creator of HTML5 so you can trust the site and its filled with examples and tests.

Hope it helps :D

it actually depends on what you want to do with the skill in general,

don't know what you want ?
Python

want an easy start? and a good basis for learning anything else?
Python

want to do AI and analysis stuff?
Python

want to develop web apps ?
start with html/css and go on with javascript

want to develop windows apps ?
C#, C++

want to hate yourself and everything else?
start with C or C++

want to go work for big companies and be jobless in 5 years because everyone will drop java one day ?
Java

and as you can see i'm very biased towards Python, but I think its the best starting point regardless of what you want to do.

I think the better program language to start is C.

The languages forces you to understand basic data structures, and how it works. :)

Python is a good place to start and useful for both the workplace and personal use. It's very flexible and should be around for a while
