Risks are minimal. These reservations are made with Hertz Reward Points, and there is no way for the Hertz receptionists to see if you're the right owner of the account or not. They just see the reservation and that's it. The only risks there might be (very very very low chance like 1%, never happened before), is that they will charge full amount for the rental on the credit card used to pay deposit. I can guarantee that you won't end up in jail.
I recommend renting for 1-2 weeks max. I do max 3-4 weeks.

- Long term rental is not possible. I do max 3-4 weeks.
- Go read the thread again. Its not carded, its from Hertz Reward Points.
- Risks are minimal. You will have higher risk if you pick up with someone elses license - because that will be identity crime. I have done this 3-4 times now, with rentals of 1-2 weeks each. Always got my deposit returned. Nothing happened since.
?Just don't destroy the car, and you will be fine.
