What's the Mariana's web?
Here we are at the den of criminals: the mariana's web (the name seems to refer to the Mariannes Trench, the deepest part of the sea floor) almost unknown and a source of urban legends.
The darknet is a world of unimaginable vastness: think that search engines index only 1% of material and documents on the network, actually estimated at over 600 billion.
So described it looks like a super exciting stuff as creepy.
But what can you find and what does this mysterious post-it look like?
The graphics are those of the nineties network. There is no Google, there is no indexing and you go back to the speed of the dear old 56K.
The navigation works through hyperlinks. In most cases, it's about heavy porn and jumpscare sites (those where you suddenly see hideous faces).
You can then pay for goods and services with bitcoins, the so-called cryptomonete, tamite which you can sell, buy and rent everything. You can contact skilled hackers, extremists, jhiadists, buy bots that speak for you on the web on the surface and learn how to dox, or steal the data of others. Even hire a hitman, apparently.
Click after click and crime talking, you are face to face with monitoring services, smuggling, sale of drugs, weapons, fake documents, sites that monitor the overseers, money-laundering crypto-money. And then the part that nobody wants to see, the part dedicated to the exchange of child pornography material through forums, chats and coded languages.
Be very careful of this nice person.
