and how do I get that courtesy credit

Social Engineering. I ended my 15 year run as an Account Manager, but spent a decade in fraud/risk departments prior. If someone asked for money I would almost never give it to them, and certainly not my entire $100 (per customer) budget. They had to frame a problem that PP was somewhat co-accountable for and tell me how it had financially affected them. But, that was just me; there's really no S.O.P for giving it out - some people almost never gave one and preferred telling people to 'get stuffed' than to give out money. I was fairly liberal and occasionally heard a sad story that PP had nothing to do with and would say 'screw it!' and ask the customer 'You know how we can fix all this; how would you like $100?' As a result, I was very popular among the businesses I worked with.

If you call (and don't have a business account) use the number 888-221-1161. They are supposed to have a 'one-touch resolution' policy (i.e. the first agent to answer the call should be able to address the issue without transferring even if it isn't their department).

Good luck - I'll gladly accept a beer if you get the credit  ;)
