A: You can try a system restore.
 
Q: Do I have a virus on my PC now?
A: No, "only" your files got deleted.
 
Q: When will BoL come back?
A: Once the  situation calms down and VPrediction is in its original state again.
 
Q: What can I (user) do to prevent this?
A: Disable automatic updates in scripts.
 
Q: Was this an anti-cracking attempt by BoL?

The following patch will prevent scripts from executing any cmd command, and access environment variables.

We used the infected VPrediction on our test machines and it didn't delete any files after we deployed the update on our auth servers.
