Beware of this scam [MUST READ]

This type of scam has been used by this person, for months or years now.

 

It's not impersonation, and I honestly haven't a clue how it works or why it works.

 

I know it has something to do with the change of name of the conversation. Because it happens on every chat.

 

 

Scammer would contact somebody and make a group chat with me and that person. Or ask that person to make a group chat with me. After some conversation "I" would show up (Lucas) and say something along the lines of ''Yes, I can take the funds, send them here: " and an address that is NOT MINE. This message is fake, sent by the person who is performing this scam, and for some reason, on discord it looks like it was sent by me.

 

if anyone has any idea how this works, if it's an exploit related to a discord client or something like that, please do let me know.

As you can see, he sends the messages all in a quick succession, making it look like normal interaction. The user DOES NOT CHANGE HIS NAME but the message appears to have been sent by me. In this picture you can see it was not sent by me, as it shows I have the guy blocked. 

 

and here is another situation where he succeeded in scamming, using @Liars as MM

 

 

before changing the name of the chat, there was a message that looked like it was sent by @Liars but it was not, and after the funds were sent, that message was removed to make @Liars look like a scammer.

 

If you have any information as to how this is performed, please do let me know ASAP.

There is no change of name involved. At most, the change was temporary and only within that group because I was watching his actions live and saw his profile at all times and it didn't change name.

Don't know how it works, but maybe would help to actually report the glitch to discord, of course showing an example that is not related to a deal made on nulled.

Btw that is really scary.

Is it all selectable text, when they click your profile of the fake message it shows your profile?

Since the group chat name change is most likely just so that his name gets seperated.

(He sends one message making it look like you sent it - then changes the group name so it basically cuts off his messages and then writes again so his name shows.)

If he didnt do the group name change it would look like Lucas is still typing since it wouldnt show his name again

Damn, me having never used discord before, my mind is confused as fuck even trying to comprehend this thread. Very complex scam. Hope someone can figure out what's going on here and prevent anyone else from getting scammed.

On a side note and also funnier note, to everyone on nulled who's made fun of me for only using telegram and not knowing anything about discord, yall can all now proceed to suck me. Just kidding obviously.

This is why telegram should be used for transactions and deals, nothing bad can happen if you are well aware.

 

This is probably a BetterDiscord plugin or something similar.
