I believe you have to still login through Hulu, but you can watch the HBO Max shows on Hulu-- just like Disney +

Hulu stated that it's impossible to watch HBO Max content from Hulu, it's exclusively on HBO max app

because who have HBO plan automatically have the HBO Max, again this is according the Hulu website:

The problem is when i try to login using the HBO Max hulu plan account in HBO Max app, they ask to verify the email / create new HBO Max account

 

this will notify the owner
