Go to settings > Wi-Fi > Click the i by your Wi-Fi > Configure DNS > Manual > Add Server > IP of the Private Server > Load Into COC
Although I haven't seen a Private server since like 2013 and they always are garbage and don't save. IMO its not really fun...
Haven't used one in years so don't know if that 100% works. Use your intuition
