What programming language did you start with?

HTML & PHP

Why did you choose that language?

Needed to learn them for school. I had more interest in learning HTML since I knew I would use it more career wise than PHP.

Where are you at with that language?

The nature of my job requires a tad bit of HTML experience so I am decent with it but PHP has since went out the door.

How beneficial has that language been to you?

As I said before, HTML is used from time to time in my office so having the experience really helps me out.

HTML isn't a programming language (Sorry I had to call it out :P). But I get what you mean, I have done a little bit of HTML but I haven't been great with making webpages without JavaScript to handle the wonderful aspects of it. I have not looked into PHP at all, but I have heard from a couple people about it. :) It's good to have that experience in different fields, no doubt in that!

What programming language did you start with?

Some Java rip-off and then Java.

Why did you choose that language?

Choose career path as a software engineer.

Where are you at with that language?

Professional, basically I can google the stuff I need to use for a project. :P

How beneficial has that language been to you?

When you can code in Java, you can code in every other language. When I do C# I just code like its Java. Well, rougly. There are also many opportunities like Android Studio. When you can do some programming I'd recommend trying to make an Application in Android Studio.

Extra Notes

You really have to love programming. If you're not, like me, you lose interest in it fast. That's why I changed into economics and kind of mixed my knowledge with it.

Cheers and good luck making some some HelloWorld Applications!

Thanks for replying, will definitely have to look more into the Android Studio. I really am leaning towards advancing in java, but you are definitely correct about interest!

If ever you need help, just hmu on discord (check my profile) and I'll gladly teach you for loops for free and if ever you want to use some sources, you can always look at the documentation of the code (it's hard to understand but it's the best way to do it) or you can find some udemy accounts on here and study there.

Will do, much appreciation. Just got a Java book today so I will start looking into it. If I have any questions on things I can't seem to get, I will definitely contact you. Thank you very much for the hand! :D

What programming language did you start with?
Java

Why did you choose that language?
It's the basic language included in my UNI curriculum

Where are you at with that language?*
Kinda basic, can create things like text-based Black Jack but haven't gotten much farther than that..

How beneficial has that language been to you?

Since I recently started learning it I haven't gotten around to making things outside of UNI so no "real" benefits yet.

Hey, thanks for the response. I too have gotten a little bit into java. I understand most schools aim for a C++ or Java type base. Good luck with it bro, I really hope you do great things with Java. I know it will be beneficial eventually. Stay creative :D

Whatever you start learning don't compare yourself to experts in the language, only compare yourself to previous day yourself. This way you won't rush to anything and won't feel depressed when you see pros coding.

This was definitely needed for me. I do indeed compare a bit to much with others around me. But that aspect on just comparing myself to the day before is something that instantly just cleared that comparing side of me. Thanks for the tip :)

Lmao I'm still in college and I hope my response can help you with whatever it is

What programming language did you start with?

C++

Why did you choose that language?

It was part of the school's curriculum so I had no choice.

Where are you at with that language?

Entry to a little above entry since I didn't really like it and I just decided to try and focus on other languages

How beneficial has that language been to you?

Honestly, as a college student who doesn't really go out into the industry to freelance and stuff like that, C++ is kinda useless. It might be useful when you're in the profession itself but as a lazy student, it doesn't really help with anything.

Extra Notes

I'm actually more well-versed in Java than I am in C++ and I can say that Java is indeed a step up from C++ but I'd recommend that you learn the basics from C++ and when you reach to the point of OOP, start with Java until you can use some Java frameworks. It really helps since it makes it easier to transition from one language to another. I'm trying to focus on python but I'm still lazy but I'm planning to push my limits with python soon enough for my thesis lmao

Thank you for this great response. I really plan on getting better in Java, but I will definitely take your advice on advancing in C++ until OOP. I've started OOP with Java, but i'm not too far enough into it to say I am well. I still suck at understanding for loops? Any websites or books you used to advance your learning in any of the languages?

What programming language did you start with?

Java.

Why did you choose that language?

interest

Where are you at with that language?

I don't know Because just interest

How beneficial has that language been to you?

Can help me understand the basic Coding

Thanks for responding. Java is a useful language, and it does help around with understanding certain aspects once you learn it. I stilll have to get more into it myself haha. :D
