Well i believe amazon employee was probably selling information to scam calling companies they pay quite alot for a legit list.

Just do some market research in an area that typically excites you. I am currently setting up my own personal shopper/Selling designer items. 

Probably should start with Python and a couple youtube videos as tutorials.

Try aim to make something such as a game and then a program of some sort. Nothing too hard but then you can take these skills to another program, when it comes to coding i would say its very good to be gifted as mathematics because you need that problem solving skills.
