Avast has been good for us ( shop ) we use it in conjunction with malwarebytes

Used to use avg , but it ended up trying to take over pc

im trying to get a free antivirus at the moment but 40% of them don't even work. Anyone have any recommendation?

i think avast its pretty cool

If you want something free I would go with the free version of Kaspersky or Bitdefender as the main antivirus with real-time scanning and to add on to that you could get Malwarebytes and do a full scan here and there. Also, it is a good practice to scan any file you find suspicious on Virustotal
