I would do it like this:

Scanner SC = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.println(SC.nextLine().replaceAll("[^A-Za-z]+", "").length());

Easier :)

no it's not easier the thread is nonsene your post is worse than thread itself. why give regex solution to an absolute beginner who has no idea about it ?
