Hi brainstorm21! You can add superscripts or subscripts from the menu and the guide for doing that is on https://osxtips.net/superscript-mac/. MacBooks are mostly used for work and school because they are super easy to use and powerful, and knowing shortcuts can be a life saver in a lot of cases. I'm now working into making them a habit - get my hands used to shortcuts because the speed of my typing has a big influence on my salary.
