I've run into OOP with Lua just a few months back in a multiplayer modification called Multi Theft Auto. Is Lua OOP used anywhere else?

Garry's Mod  and Spring Engine , Escape from Monkey Island Lua is widely used as a scripting language by game programmers

Yeah you'll only see Lua used as an OOP language when an environment and wrapper is already provided for it unless you implement that yourself. Generally game developers that include the ability to mod their game might create a custom environment that enforces Lua OOP because it is easier to keep track of stuff with custom classes and/or inheritance. It's all preference
