PUBG taking "inspiration" from Fortnite

PUBG made bad choices. They had a great start but they focused more on the money. When fortnite came it forced them to start working on fixing the game. One of the reasons I,for example stopped playing is that I had to pay for the Battle Royale Pass. I already bought the game for 25€ and they wanted me to spend more money. In fortnite you could spend like about 5€ and be off to buy the pass every season. I don't see a reason why PUBG shouldn't take inspiration from fortnite. The 9 year olds can keep playing fortnite but the people who want a realistic battle royale can play PUBG with added content and fixes.
