I've been playing Garry's mod for quite a while (5 years) and I've really gotten an interest for lua, I'm not sure whether I have to learn c++ beforehand or not but I'd love if any of the coding folks could lead me in the direction of guides and or tutorials. Thanks!

There is lots of way to learn,

Every human is diffrent. We all learn diffrent ways.

What i did to learn myself c++ back in 2013

I was downloading some source code and trying to understand the code and the structure of it and i did indeed read the book "Teach yourself C++ in 21 days". Some google to search functions.

It also depends alot what you want to do in c++. my recommendation to you is after some time that you set a goal to create a specfic program and dont stop until you reached your goal. I use to do this to improve myself time from time.
