Hey guys, I've recently been tossing up whether to ditch Python and go to Lua and LOVE?
I've been learning python over the last year or two and have found that its a bit limited in terms of game development and where I would like to go. Does anyone have any insight whether Lua and the LOVE2D engine would be worth learning? From what I've seen it seems really straightforward and simple, but its just the whole process of re-learning a language thats got me on the edge.
Thank you
Is Lua worth learning? or stick with python?

i guess you would do LUA for most procedural programming languages or maybe for some hacks on LoL for yourself. its a simple somewhat older language that fits in most cases of programm extending. i dont know much but recommend it if you already learned Python scince its always nice to have a few new things in your brain
good luck man

i guess you would do LUA
First, it's Lua, not LUA.
maybe for some hacks on LoL for yourself.
Second, you don't hack in LoL with Lua, you script. Hacking and Scripting are two different concepts.
Back to the main question:
Seen you have been learning Python the last year you should not have any problem regarding learning Lua, both of them are programming languages aimed to scripting.
It's true the syntax is different, but in the end the logics behind both languages are the same.
As you said, Lua is a straightforward language, pretty easy to learn.
There are many applications for Lua, popular games use Lua, e.g Factorio.
Lua was one of the first languages I learned, and from my experience I can tell you it is great.
See you,
ShaH

I think learning Lua is a really nice addon to your tookit, especially in scripting world, since tons of bots relies on lua scripting for the profiles.
Python in the other hand is the top language for web developing right now with js, and also the king of plugin programming in cg scene and video editing plugins too.
