Considering this is the MMO subforum I would like to ask if people agree with me that MMO's just aren't great anymore. I've read a few articles with people saying the same and its alot about the community and the ideas and all that. In all honesty I think nothing new and exciting has come its just the same stuff all over again not just MMO's but games in general its like an era with the same stuff same ideas but different storys background blah blah blah. I wouldn't say its not fun but after all that grinding and really no benefit it kinda just gets to you that this isn't fun anymore like no game is lasting that long if you really want to be good at an MMO you have to spend hours on hours of grinding that really isn't fun and money man do they want that. Does anyone agree or am I just seeing the worst games
MMO's just not worth it anymore

Totally disagree aswell!
The time were MMOs used to be the grindfest you are talking about is long gone, atleast for subscription based MMOs. There is a reason every thread on the WoW forums used to be about "catering to casuals".
It's easier then ever to gain gear and equipment in MMOs these days, but to get the best equipment, you'd need to put some time and effort in.
And even these challenges are a lot of fun, especially if you have a group of people you are comfortable with.
Maybe you should try games like FFXIV, or even WoW.

I definitely disagree with this, but I understand why you think this.
If your goal in an MMORPG is simply to get the highest level and the best gear as fast as possible, then there will be a lot of grinding and it'll end up being extremely boring. If you take the other aspects into account as well, however, you will see that you can add a lot of variety to your gameplay.
The thing I like about MMORPG's is that I can just hang out with my clan (I play RS3) while making some profit on the Grand Exchange ( = Auction) and watching a movie or TV series or just listening to music (and on RuneScape3 that alone is enough for me to make enough profit that the game doesn't cost me anything) but I can also go out and do some quests to explore the lore, or do some casual grinding.
They might not be for everyone, but you should certainly try different aspects of the games before making a statement like this about the entire genre.

I totally understand where your coming from... I used to play alot of MMORPG's but i ended up stopping because it hit a point where id have to grind too much just to get an extra 1 level, and i just didn't have the time to sit there grinding monsters for 50 years. I know there was a big thing about that a few years ago as SecKing was saying, and it is alot easier to get further by still playing casual, but in my opinion, they arent unless u have the time to play them religiously in a sense.
