Stephen King - The Stand
‘The Stand’ tells the story of a Superflu, named Captain Tripps by its few survivors, that wipes out 99.4% of the world’s population. Once civilisation has collapsed, the survivors begin to have strange dreams. Either they are drawn to a dark, shadowy man named Randall Flagg who calls them to Las Vegas, or to Mother Abigail, a 108-year old lady living alone on the prairie.
As both figures gather their own society of survivors around them, they pull in people from all walks of life. Among them are ex-musician Larry Underwood, pregnant teen Frannie Goldsmith and her companion Harold Lauder, patient zero survivor Stu Redman and deaf-mute prophet Nick Andros. Each will have a role to play in the great confrontation to come. They will be fighting for good and evil and for the very survival of humanity.
