$15 for the edit? I'm not super knowledgable with ftid, does the bot do anything special compared to if I was just going to pay a ftider to edit the label and drop it for the same price of $15?

Yes the bot recodes the barcodes to insure that your FTID goes where its supposed to. These other FTID services don't offer edits because their service is literally slapping the same address on all the packages and risk it getting relabeled.
