First, this isn't a new method. This is a really saturated field that has been going for a few years.
Second, this will probably not work. Nowadays (again, saturation) they ask for a card connected to your Microsoft account and hold the total amount of the replacement device until they confirm that your device is broken.
Third, this will probably not work also because in some countries Microsoft sends their own couriers to deal specially with leaking batteries and pick up the device.
There's a slight chance this will work for you but it takes weeks to get to a rep that isn't repeating the same thing over and over again, and the chances you can talk someone into doing it are SO low because of strict their script is. Crap method, thanks for wasted time
