Yes it should be possible. That's the reason tools like IDA exist. Look around the reversing guides section here (https://www.nulled.t...uides-and-tips/), there is bound to be a few tutorials already posted on the subject.

binwalk to get the file headers. There might be more than one file all packed together, and you can never be sure unless you just scan the whole damn thing.
Not familiar with .ipk files in particular, but binwalk is usually my go-to tool whenever I'm not exactly sure how a file is supposed to be opened (or if it contains any hidden data.)
