I'm pretty sure VMware software is not a thread for your privacy...
Probably not, but I've kinda hacked the VPS credentials, and like I said, I'm concerned the providers might get access to my MAC through it

Try it in a VM with a decent vpn and use a network sniffer to see what is sended to your provider just to make sure
