Intel is better; the new AMD CPU's have closed the gap between the two; but intel still remains superior. AMD has more cores which is handy; but the single-core performance of intel is still superior; and since most games cannot take advantage or utilize more than 2-4 cores; it's not worth to use AMD. For rendering it's a different story

Yeah, pretty much.
AMDs are really good for work stations, but still aren't too bad for games.

AMD if your looking for price to performance and plan on doing other things than just gaming on your pc like editing, recording and exporting large amounts of data at a time. Intel if you don't mind spending the extra money and use your pc strictly for gaming
