Hey guys, so I recently got the domain "anon.city" and I wanted to make it something like "anonfiles.com". I am looking for a partner who can help setup a file hosting website with me!
I am going to be completely honest here, I have little experience with css/js now-a-days (Been out the programming scene for 10+ years). I still know the basics of how to make a website but when its starts getting complicated I am lost. I need someone who knows js/css/html/php and wont have a problem doing most of the hard work (if you do then this thread isn't for you) and can explain some of the stuff when I am lost. I want to grow this website with a partner, right now there is no money in it for us but as time goes on and we spread, that can all change.

I will pay for the hosting from the start until we can possibly grow and make revenue from it. Then when/if we make revenue, I will subtract the cost of hosting (and other utilities that have to be paid for) from our revenue, then spit the profit 50/50.
I mean I only have a broad idea on this so anyone that can bring some awesome ideas is a plus!

If you are interested please PM/Start a Convo or even reply on this thread and I will get back to you! If you have nothing nice to say then please continue on with your day! Thank you :)

This project does seem to have value, but think about it, domains cost like $10/year, I can get unlimited hosting on ebay for $5. Why would someone want to split profits and give 50% stake for $15?

There is a 0% stake because I am paying for the hosting and domain. I said IF we make revenue, it will cover the costs & utilities of the website, and then the extra will be split 50/50. If the website doesn't even generate enough to cover cost then me and said partner will decide who takes it. No biggie.

The start of this isn't to make money, but to get started and get known. If money comes then that's great but I am not expecting it.

This is a great project for someone who is looking to start a project but maybe don't have the funds to do so, or someone who is looking for something to add to their resume.

I just want a fun learning experience with someone in creating a cool project others can enjoy for free, and possibly offer upgrades later on down the line, and even expand into other categories as we go and progress!

I don't think you will find a developer who is broke and doesn't has $15 to pay for hosting and domain (btw for development purpose you don't need domain and hosting, just laptop/server or anything; you only need hosting and domain once you are set to publish, so if someone wanted to publish their work and show people in their resume, they would rather spend $15, get all of the profits, and tell people in their resume that they made website and host it themselves). Rest, I'm just one of the developers here, and I am not "everyone" so I can't say anything, but gl.

wasn't the whole point but yea I know, I realized a lot of developers are high and mighty and never want to give a helping hand. I hope one will tho, Just trying to learn and possibly grow with someone.

I like this idea, like your attitude. Good domain. I think you should go for it by yourself no matter what. But unless you're already an experienced webdev I don't think that hand coding a file hosting site would be a good idea. Wordpress would be much easier, but hand coded sites are always cooler.

I know of a way to host files for much cheaper than the market, had this idea once, and am used to doing server stuff. PM me if I can be of help.

People seem to forget that its not the hosting or domain that is expensive, its the ssd space. If you plan to host all the files on your server, you're going to need a lot of storage space

With $15, you'll be lucky to get around 30-40 gbs of storage
